Exhibition opening: A collection of somewhat random specimens by Denis Russel

Photographic exhibition by Denis Roussel, titled " A collection of somewhat random specimens", will be presented in Out In The Sticks Art Gallery from June 8 to July 21st, 2013. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, June 8th at 7 pm.

Denis Roussel comes from France, but currently he lives and works in  Colorado, USA. He works with traditional photographic techniques, like wet plate collodion process. The series he will present in our gallery features various random natural objects, which he found in his backyard or during hikes in the area where he lives. World-wide Pinhole Photography Day - April 28

Like every year, the Out In The Sticks will participate in World-wide Pinhole Photography Day.
On Sunday, April 28th, 2013, from 1 pm to 1:45 pm there will be Mini-Workshop on Pinhole Photography, with photographer Andrzej Maciejewski. Then from 2 to 4 pm every participant may go and take some pinhole photographs, either using cameras provided by us, or their own cameras. These pinhole photographs will be developed right away in Andrzej Maciejewski's portable darkroom. Then you may easily scan them and upload them on the website of the World-Wide Pinhole Photography Day:

Participants are asked for $ 20 donation towards materials. (Please do not be late for the Workshop part at 1 pm, it is hard to explain everything ten times to all those who come late.)

"Simple Life", exhibition of paintings by Meghan Marshall.

Absolutely stunning selection of paintings by young artist Meghan Marshall will be exhibited in Out In The Sticks Cultural Centre and Art Gallery from April 20th to May 27th 2013. The exhibition title is Simple Life. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, April 20th, at 6pm. As usually, the admission is free, but we welcome donations.

Meghan Marshall lives on Wolfe Island. As she says about herself, she is a chemical engineer by trade and an artist by nature. Her work often explores rural themes. With love and passion she portrays numerous elements of a simple everyday country life; cows in the pasture, chickens in the yard, tractors, barns and fields. New season starting!

Publications about current show

We have got nice response from local media to our current show, "Eclectic Roots" by Tim de Rose. There was a nice story by Meghan Balogh, published both in the Napanee Guide and Kingston This Week and a very interesting review by Kamille Parkinson in Kingston Whig Standard.

Exhibition ""Eclectic Roots" by Tim De Rose opens on July 21st

A beautiful exhibition of paintings by Tim De Rose will be on display in Out In The Sticks Art Gallery from July 20th to August 12th 2012. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, July 21st, at 7 pm. Everybody is welcome! Admission by free will donations.

Tim De Rose is well known local artist and co-owner of  Wilton Pottery. His paintings and his ceramic works have been widely exhibited. Tim is represented by Gallery Raymond in Kingston. "Eclectic Roots" is a retrospective exhibition, featuring works from three different series, inspired by Tim's extensive travels (i.e. to Africa and to Newfoundland).
